Multifunction Switch: Description and Operation
DESCRIPTION
The multi-function switch, which is mounted to the steering column lock cylinder housing, provides electrical switching for the following:
^
turn signal
^
headlamp dimmer
^
headlamp flash-to-pass
^
hazard warning
^
cornering lamps
^
windshield washer/wiper
OPERATION
The turn signal switch is incorporated into the multi-function switch.
Turn signals operate in the following manner:
^
Turn the ignition switch to RUN.
^
Move turn signal switch lever to end-of-travel position to indicate a normal full turn.
^
The lever remains in position without effort until turn is completed.
^
The turn indicator cancel cam then automatically cancels the turn signal.
Operate the lane change system as follows:
^
Move and hold the turn signal lever to the first stop position when changing lanes.
^
Releasing the lever returns it to its normal position when the maneuver is over.
The cornering lamp switch is coordinated with the turn signal function. In order to operate the cornering lamp function, the headlamp bulbs must be
turned on.
