Fluid - Differential: Service and Repair
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Clean all dirt from area of axle housing cover.
3. Drain rear axle lubricant by removing axle housing cover.
4. Apply Silicone Rubber D6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M4G92-A or ESE-M4G195-A. Install axle housing cover
and tighten axle housing cover bolts to 38-52 Nm (28-38 ft. lbs.).
CAUTION: Make sure machined surfaces on both axle housing cover and rear axle housing are clean before installing the new silicone rubber.
To prevent axle contamination cover inside of rear axle housing when cleaning the machined surface. Tighten the axle housing cover bolts in a
crosswise pattern to prevent distortion of axle housing cover.
NOTE: Axle housing cover must be installed within 15 minutes of the silicone rubber application or new silicone rubber must be applied.
5. Add SAE 80W-90; Premium Rear Axle Lubricant XY-80W90-QL or -KL or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSP-M2C197-A until it is
6-14 mm (0.250-0.562 inch) below bottom of fill hole.
6. Add 118.2 ml (4 oz.) of Additive Friction Modifier C8AZ-19B546-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification EST-M2C118-A to Traction-Lok
axles.
7. Install fill plug and tighten to 28-40 Nm (21-29 ft. lbs.).
