Fuel Filler Hose: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Remove fuel tank filler cap, strap and fuel tank filler pipe retaining screws inside the fuel filler door.
2. Drain fuel tank. Make sure vehicle has less than 3/4 tank of fuel. See: Service and Repair
3. Shut off air suspension if equipped.
4. Raise vehicle on hoist.
5. Remove the LH rear wheel and tire assembly.
6. Disconnect fuel tank filler pipe sensing hose from fuel tank filler pipe.
7. Remove the four screws retaining the fuel tank filler pipe to the fuel filler housing.
8. Remove the retaining screw from the fuel tank filler pipe retainer.
9. Slide the fuel tank filler pipe into fuel tank until enough clearance with the fender allows the fuel tank filler pipe to be rotated.
10. Rotate the fuel tank filler pipe and remove through the wheel well opening.
INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate the fuel tank filler pipe with water-based tire mounting lubricant.
2. Slide the fuel tank filler pipe into the fuel tank.
3. Rotate the fuel tank filler pipe into position with the fuel filler housing.
4. Install four retaining screws for fuel tank filler pipe to fuel filler housing. Tighten to 2.3-3.3 Nm (21-29 lb in).
NOTE: Make sure that the fuel tank filler pipe retainer is positioned between the locating beads on the fuel tank filler pipe.
5. Install retaining screw for the fuel tank filler pipe retainer. Tighten to 6.8-9.2 Nm (61-81 lb in).
6. Connect fuel tank filler pipe sensing tube.
7. Install LH rear wheel and tire assembly.
8. Lower vehicle.
9. Turn on air suspension if equipped.
10. Install the fuel tank filler cap strap and four fuel filler housing retaining screws. Tighten to 2.3-3.3 Nm (21-29 lb in).
11. Refuel vehicle as necessary.
