Town Car V8-4.6L VIN W (1997)
INSTALLATION
1. Position rear safety belt retractor and tongue in vehicle. Make sure the safety belt webbing is not twisted. If it is, remove the twist.
2. Install two rear safety belt retractor bolts. Tighten bolts to 34-46 Nm (25-33 lb ft).
3. Insert rear safety belt retractor and tongue through opening in the quarter trim panel. Snap rear safety belt opening grommet into quarter trim
panel.
4. Install roof side rear quarter trim panel.
5. Install rear safety belt anchor nut. Tighten nut to 42-54 Nm (31-39 lb ft).
6. Install rear seat cushion kit.
7. Check restraint system for proper operation and perform Functional Test Procedure.
Seat Belt With Anchor Plate Thread Damage
The seat and shoulder safety belts are factory-installed in their proper locations. If the belts are removed for any reason, they should be re-installed. The
7/16-inch x 20 Torx(r) head anchor bolts must be hand-started and then tightened to 34-46 Nm (25-33 lb ft).
1. Remove broken or stripped bolt and discard.
2. Drill out the internal threads in safety belt anchor plate with a 27/64 inch drill (shoulder belt 13/32 inch drill).
3. Rethread anchor plate with a 1/2-13 tap (safety belt).
WARNING: Eye protection must be worn while performing this procedure.
4. Blow out the remaining chips.
