Steering Column Lock: Service and Repair
Lower

REMOVAL

1. Remove steering column lower bearing retainer.
2. Support steering column lower bearing retainer and tap out steering column bearing with a hammer and a drift.

INSTALLATION

1. Inspect steering column bearing sleeve. Replace if damaged.

2. Position steering column bearing sleeve in steering actuator housing.
3. Press in the new steering column bearing with thumb pressure until seated. Slot between inner and outer races should face out from the steering

column lower bearing retainer.
