Air Spring: Service and Repair
Air Spring Filling or Refolding
1. Support frame so rear wheels are off ground with no load applied to rear suspension.
WARNING: WHEN INSTALLING DEFLATED AIR SPRINGS ON THE VEHICLE, LOWER THE HOIST PROGRESSIVELY AS
REQUIRED. TO PREVENT PERSONAL INJURY DO NOT APPLY ANY LOAD TO THE SUSPENSION UNTIL THE SPRINGS
HAVE BEEN INFLATED FOR AT LEAST 90 SECONDS.
2. Air suspension switch must be ON.
3. Ignition switch must be in RUN. Connect a battery charger to battery to reduce battery drain.
4. Fold back RH luggage compartment trim panel carpet and connect Rotunda Super Star II Tester 007-0041B or equivalent, to air suspension test
connector.
5. Set Super Star II tester to EEC-IV/MCU mode. Also set Super Star II tester to FAST mode. Release Star tester button to HOLD (up) position and
turn tester ON.
6. Press Star Tester button to TEST (down) position. A DTC 10 will be displayed. Within two minutes a DTC 13 will be displayed. After DTC 13 is
displayed, release tester button to HOLD (up) position, wait two seconds and press tester button to TEST (down) position. ignore any DTCs
displayed.
7. Release tester button to the HOLD (up) position. Wait at least 20 seconds, then press tester button to the TEST (down) position. Within 10
seconds, the following DTCs will start to be displayed in the order shown:
DTC
23: Vent Rear
26: Compress Rear
31: Cycle Compressor On and Off Repeatedly
32: Cycle Vent Solenoid Valve Open and Closed Repeatedly
33: Cycle Spring Solenoid Valves Open and Closed Repeatedly
8. Within four seconds after DTC 26 is displayed release tester button to the HOLD (up) position. (Waiting longer than four seconds may result in
Functional Test 31 being entered.) The compressor will fill the air springs with air as long as the test button is in the HOLD (up) position. To stop
filling the air springs, press the tester button to the TEST (down) position.
9. To exit Functional Test 26, disconnect the Star tester and turn the ignition switch OFF.
NOTE: It is possible to overheat the compressor during this operation. If the compressor overheats, the self-resetting circuit breaker in the
compressor will open and remain open for about 15 minutes. This allows the compressor to cool down.
