Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Rear
REMOVAL
1. Position a hoist under the rear axle housing, and raise vehicle. Place jackstands under frame side rails.
2. Remove rear stabilizer bar.
3. Disconnect the lower studs of the two shock absorbers from the mounting brackets on the rear axle assembly.
4. Unsnap the parking brake rear cable and conduit from upper arm retainer before lowering the rear axle housing.
5. Lower the hoist and axle housing until the rear springs are released.
6. Remove rear spring and rear spring center mounting insulators from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the rear spring in the upper and lower seats with rear spring center mounting insulator between upper end of rear spring and frame seat.
2. Raise the hoist and rear axle assembly housing with the rear springs in position. Connect the lower studs of the rear shock absorbers to their
mounting brackets on the axle tube. Install new retaining nuts. Tighten to 76-103 Nm (57-76 ft. lbs.).
