Clutch: Service and Repair
Clutch, A/T
- Clean all parts with suitable solvent and use moisture-free air to dry off all parts and clean out fluid passages.
- To clean these parts, wipe with a lint-free cloth. New clutch plates or bands should be soaked in the specified transmission fluid for 15 minutes before
assembly.
NOTE: The composition clutch plates, bands and synthetic seals should not be cleaned in a vapor degreaser or with any type of detergent solution.
Direct Clutch
DISASSEMBLY
1. After removing direct clutch hub, remove No. 7 direct clutch inner bearing and direct clutch inner bearing support.
2. Remove clutch pressure plate retainer snap ring. Remove and inspect clutch pack. Note the relation of clutch pressure plates for assembly.
