Axle Shaft: Testing and Inspection
Runout

Runout of the axle shaft is an infrequent, but possible, cause of rear end vibration. Check the axle shaft for runout as shown in the following illustrations:

Pilot (Radial)

Flange Face (Lateral)

Bolt Circle (Radial)
