2006-2008 Mazda3 vehicles with VINS lower than JM1BK******108824 (produced before Feb. 24, 2008)

2008 Mazda5 vehicles with VINS lower than JM1CR******312147 (produced before Feb. 24, 2008)

2006-2008 Mazda6 vehicles with VINS lower than 1YVHP******M39067 (produced before March 4, 2008)

DESCRIPTION

Some vehicles may experience an excessive 3-4 shift shock when driving on an uphill road or with some load applied. Due to uneven wear on the servo
piston bore (B), oil leakage from the bore occurs. This in turn causes a mistimed engagement of the 2/4 band (A), resulting in the 3-4 shift shock. To
correct the problem, the servo piston (C) hardness has now been changed.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Verify customer concern.

2. Follow the "Diagnosis Flowchart" and if the concern seems to be due to wear on the servo piston bore, replace the transmission.
