Engine Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair
CYLINDER HEAD TEMPERATURE (CHT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7]
NOTE:
-
Do not reuse the CHT sensor, install a new sensor.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the following part for easier access.

Complete the "BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION". See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage

Remove the engine cover. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Cover
Removal/Installation

Remove the ventilation hose. See: Emission Control Systems/Service and Repair

Remove the TP sensor connector. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair

Remove the vacuum hose (to purge solenoid valve). See: Emission Control Systems/Service and Repair

Remove the vacuum hose (to master back). See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair

Remove the dynamic chamber. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair

Remove the fuel hose. See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Line Coupler/Service and Repair/Quick Release Connector
Removal/Installation

Remove the fuel distributor. See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Injector/Service and Repair

Remove the intake manifold. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair
3. Disconnect the CHT sensor connector.
4. Remove the CHT sensor using the following tools.

Socket
3/8", 20mm, 6point
-
Ratchet handle and torque wrench
3/8" Drive
5. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque

8.9-12.1 Nm {91-123 kgf-cm, 79-107 in-lbf}
