Impact Sensor: Service and Repair
Side Air Bag Sensor No. 2 Removal/Installation
SIDE AIR BAG SENSOR NO. 2 REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Handling the side air bag sensor improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air

1. Switch the ignition to off.
2. Remove the battery cover.
3. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more.
4. Remove the following parts:
a. Rear scuff plate See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Scuff Plate/Service and Repair/Rear Scuff Plate Removal/Installation
b. Rear seat cushion See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Rear Seat/Rear Seat Cushion Removal/Installation
c. Rear side seat back See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Overhaul/Rear Seat/Rear Side Seat Back Removal/Installation
d. Rear tire house trim See: Body and Frame/Interior Moulding / Trim/Trim Panel/Service and Repair/Tire House Trim Removal/Installation
5. Remove the nut.
6. Remove the side air bag sensor No.2.
7. Disconnect the connect from the side air bag sensor No.2 by pressing the connector tab and pulling out the lock lever in the direction of the arrow.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. Switch the ignition to ON.
10. Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and goes out.

If the air bag system warning light does not operate normally, refer to the on-board diagnostic system (air bag system) and perform inspection
