Alternator: Removal and Replacement
GENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7]
WARNING:

Remove and install all parts when the engine is cold, otherwise they can cause severe burns or serious injury.

When the battery cables are connected, touching the vehicle body with generator terminal B will generate sparks. This can cause personal injury,
fire, and damage to the electrical components. Always disconnect the negative battery cable before performing the following operation.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair
3. Remove the engine cover. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Cover

4. Remove the air cleaner and fresh air duct component. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair
5. Remove the cooling fan component. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Radiator Cooling Fan/Service and Repair
6. Remove the generator and A/C drive belt. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive

7. Remove the A/C compressor with the pipes still connected. Position the A/C compressor out of the way. See: Heating and Air

8. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
10. Refill the engine coolant. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Coolant/Service and Repair
11. Inspect for engine coolant leakage. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Cooling System/Coolant/Testing and Inspection/Engine Coolant Leakage
