Steering Gear: Removal and Replacement
STEERING GEAR AND LINKAGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [MZI-3.7]
CAUTION:

Performing the following procedures without first removing the ABS wheel-speed sensor may possibly cause an open circuit in the harness if it is
pulled by mistake. Before performing the following procedures, remove the ABS wheel-speed sensor (axle side) and fix it to an appropriate place
where the sensor will not be pulled by mistake while servicing the vehicle.

2. Disconnect the steering shaft from the steering gear and linkage. See: Steering Column/Service and Repair/Steering Wheel And Column

3. Remove the steering dust cover. See: Steering Column/Service and Repair/Steering Wheel And Column Removal/Installation [Without Advanced

Advanced Keyless Entry And Push Button Start System]
4. Set the front mudguard out of the way. See: Body and Frame/Spoilers, Flaps, and Air Dams/Mud Flap/Service and Repair
5. Remove the splash shield.
6. Remove the front pipe. See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Exhaust System/Service and Repair
7. Remove the transverse member. See: Suspension/Cross-Member/Front Cross-Member/Service and Repair/Transverse Member
Removal/Installation
8. Remove the front crossmember component. See: Suspension/Cross-Member/Front Cross-Member/Service and Repair/Front Crossmember
Removal/Installation
9. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
11. After installation, inspect the front wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. See: Alignment/Service and Repair/Front Wheel Alignment
