Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Removal/Installation [AW6A-EL]

INPUT/TURBINE SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [AW6A-EL]

WARNING:

-

A hot transaxle and ATF can cause severe burns. Turn off the engine and wait until then are cool.

1. Remove the control valve body. 

a. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

b. Remove the air cleaner component.  See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Intake Manifold/Service and Repair

c. Remove the air cleaner bracket.

d. Remove the TCM.  See: Relays and Modules - Transmission and Drivetrain/Relays and Modules - A/T/Control Module/Service and

e. Clean the transaxle exterior throughout with a steam cleaner or cleaning solvents.

Drain the ATF.  See: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF)

g. Disconnect the oil hose from the transaxle.

h. Remove the oil pipe.  See: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Transmission Cooler/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Oil Cooler

Remove the control valve body cover.

Remove the control valve body.  See: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Valve Body/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Control

2. Remove the input/turbine speed sensor.

3. Install the input/turbine speed sensor. 

Tightening torque

-

3.9-6.9 Nm {40-70 kgf-cm, 26-60 in-lbf}

4. Install the control valve body.  See: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Valve Body/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Control Valve

5. Remove the control valve body cover.

6. Install the oil pipe.  See: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Transmission Cooler/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Oil Cooler

7. Connect the oil hose to the transaxle.

8. Add ATF.  See: Automatic Transmission/Transaxle/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF) Replacement

9. Install the TCM.  See: Body and Frame/Splash Guard/Service and Repair/Aerodynamic Under Cover No.1 Removal/Installation
