Oil Pan: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain engine oil and coolant.

2.

Remove No. 3 engine mount attaching nuts, then, using suitable tools, support engine from above.

Raise and support vehicle, then remove right front wheel assembly and right hand splash shield.

4.

Remove five crossmember attaching nuts and bolts, then the No. 3 engine mount and bracket.

5.

Remove under cover and water return pipe, then the oil pan.

6.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:

a. Apply a continuous bead of suitable sealant on oil pan, rimming inside of bolt holes with ends overlapped, and, if a gasket is used, apply

suitable sealant to engine block at two forwardmost side bolt holes and the two rearmost bolt holes. Tighten oil pan bolts within 30 minutes
after applying sealant.

b. After completing installation, fill crankcase and cooling system and check for leaks.
