Camshaft Oil Seal: Service and Repair
Rear Camshaft Oil Seal Replace

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Remove rear timing belt as previously described, then the No. 5 cap.

3.

Remove rear camshaft oil seal.

4.

Apply thin coating of suitable sealant to No. 5 cap contact area of cylinder head, then install No. 5 cap, tightening slightly.

5.

Install new rear camshaft oil seal, apply a coating of engine oil to oil seal lip and fully press in by hand around total circumference.

6.

Torque No. 5 camshaft cap to 14-20 ft.lbs.

7.

Using hammer and 1.2599 inch pipe, reinstall new rear camshaft oil seal, pressing seal in until front edge of seal is aligned with rear edge of
cylinder head.

8.

Install and adjust rear timing belt as previously described.
