DESCRIPTION
If the air conditioner is operated after hot soak, the indicator light on the air conditioner switch may flash and the compressor will disengage, even
though there is no problem with the air conditioner. However, the air conditioner will work properly if the air conditioner switch is reset. In order to
correct this problem, a modified temperature control box has been established.

CHECKING PROCEDURE
To determine if the temperature control box or other component of the air conditioning system is the cause of the malfunction, use the following
procedure.
1.
Start the engine and turn the air conditioner on.
2.
Check the sight glass on the receiver/dryer for the proper amount of freon. Refer to the 1983 Air Conditioning Technical and Troubleshooting
Manual, (P/N 9999-95- 013M-83), page 18.
3.
Increase the engine speed to approximately 2000 rpm, set the blower speed to "1" (low) and the temperature control to maximum cold. Place a
thermometer in the A/C louver and check that the air temperature as the compressor disengages is 42~F (5.6~ or lower.
4.
If no problem with the air conditioning system is found using the above procedure, replace the temperature control box.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the glove box
2.
Disconnect the connector and remove the mounting screw for the temperature control box.
