Compressor Clutch: Testing and Inspection
COMPRESSOR DOES NOT RUN (MAGNETIC CLUTCH DOES NOT ENGAGE)
Normal Operation of Magnetic Clutch
There are two different ranges of operation for the magnetic clutch. The "ECO" feature includes an additional higher temperature operating range
which allows the compressor to stay off for longer periods. Therefore, the "ECO" feature allows greater fuel economy and less cycling of the
compressor. The "ECO" setting allows the compressor to cycle on and off within a second range of temperatures detected in the evaporator
Step 1
Connect a manifold gauge set and observe the refrigerant pressure.
Note: The ambient temperature must be 10°C (50°F) or above.
Step 2
Check that the fuses shown above are OK.
