Throttle Body: Description and Operation

Throttle Body

The throttle body regulates the amount of air allowed into the engine depending on the drivers demand for power. The farther the throttle is opened the
more air and fuel is allowed into the cylinders and the more torque and horsepower is produced. It has a primary and a secondary throttle valve. The
primary throttle valve operates all the time throughout the entire operating range of the engine. The secondary throttle valve is connected to the primary
valve by a progressive linkage. It doesn't begin to open until the primary throttle valve is opened more than a specified amount. The progressive linkage
opens the secondary throttle faster than the primary valve, so that both valves will reach wide open throttle at the same time.
