Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION (On-vehicle)

1. Warm up the engine and let it idle.

2. Listen for operational sound of each fuel injector with a screwdriver or a sound scope.

Note: The best way to judge the performance of an fuel injector is to compare its sound with the sound of other fuel injectors.

FUEL LEAKAGE TEST

1. With the injector assembly removed, install the fuel hoses as shown in the figure.

2. Connect the data link connector terminals F/P and GND with a jumper wire.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON and check for fuel leaks from the fuel distributor.
4. If fuel leaks, check the fuel injector 0-rings and fuel distributor for damage.

INJECTOR RESISTANCE TEST

Note: It is not necessary to remove the fuel injectors to perform the following procedures.

1. Disconnect fuel injector connectors.
2. Measure resistance of the injectors.
