Seal Replacement

PROCEDURE 

1. On level ground, jack up the vehicle and support it evenly on safety stands.
2. Remove the drain plug and washer.
3. Drain the oil into a suitable container.
4. Remove the transverse member.

5. Disconnect the change control rod from the transaxle.
6. Remove the joint and boot from the change rod assembly.

7. Remove the oil seal.

8. Install the new oil seal by using a pipe, with an outer diameter of 26.0 mm (1.02 inch).
9. Coat the lip of the oil seal with transaxle oil.

10. Install the boot and joint to the change rod assembly with the boot draining hole facing downward. Tighten to 13.8 - 18.6 Nm (122 - 164 inch lbs).
11. Connect the change control rod and tighten to 19 - 25 Nm (11 - 18 ft. lbs.).
