Note:

Perform a Vehicle Status Inquiry using MDCS to determine if the vehicle needs the recall performed.

OWNER NOTIFICATION

Mazda will renotify owners of subject vehicles by mail on November 5, 2001.

REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM

The reimbursement program has been extended through December 2002. Owners of affected vehicles will receive a reimbursement application form.

REQUIRED PARTS

NOTE:

With a total of 75,000 vehicles affected, it has been determined that only 1 out of every 8 vehicles inspected will require a cap replacement.

Campaign labels are supplied at no charge and are available in 8-1/2" X 11" sheets containing 18 labels. Please use MNET to order labels.

VEHICLE INSPECTION PROCEDURE

1.

Verify the vehicle is within both of the following ranges:

VIN: 1YVGF22**X5 850429 - Y5 139395

^

Build Date: 02-24-99 to 01-20-00

If vehicle is within the above range, proceed to STEP 2.

If vehicle is not within the above range, return it to the customer or inventory.
