13. Mount the SST and a pull scale or a torque wrench to the SST.
14. Measure the bearing preload at the point that the differential starts to turn.
15. Adjust the clearance of the SST (selector) to obtain the specified preload/pull scale reading. Preload should be 0.49 Nm (4.3 inch lbs.) and a
reading on pull scale of 4.9 N (1.1 lbs.).
16. Measure the gap between A and B around the circumference of the SST (selector) by using a feeler gauge.
17. Select a maximum of three adjustment shims to equal the measurement clearance plus 0.3 mm (0.012 inch).
18. Remove the transaxle case and SST (selector).
19. Install the required shim(s) and tap the bearing race into the transaxle case.
20. Install the transaxle case and tighten to 38 - 51 Nm (28 - 38 ft. lbs.).
21. Check that the preload is within the specification. If not, return to step (1). Preload should be 3.0 - 3.9 Nm (27 - 34 inch lbs.) and a reading on pull
scale of 30 - 39 N (6.6 - 8.8 lbs.).
22. Remove the transaxle case.
