Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation
In Dynamic Chamber

PURPOSE

Detects temperature of intake air inside dynamic chamber and signals PCME to compensate air/fuel mixture as required.

LOCATION

Right front corner of dynamic chamber.

OPERATION

Sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor; as temperature increases, resistance decreases. Cold air is more dense than warm air. The
PCME measures sensor resistance, calculates incoming air temperature, and uses this information to regulate fuel injection quantity and ignition
timing.

TEMPERATURE / RESISTANCE (K OHMS)

77°F (25°C) / 29.7K - 36.3K

185°F (85°C) / 3.3K - 3.7K
