Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Disconnect speedometer cable at transmission.
3.
On models with automatic transmission, remove gear shift knob retaining screws, then the gear shift knob, Fig. 2.
4.
On models with manual transmission, loosen gearshift locknut and remove gear shift lever knob.
5.
Using a screwdriver, remove console upper plate, Fig. 3.
6.
Remove ashtray retaining screws, then disconnect cigarette lighter electrical connector and remove ashtray.
7.
On models with manual transmission, shift parking brake lever up.
8.
Remove console bracket retaining screws, then the bracket.
9.
On all models, remove rear console retaining screws, then pull console rearward and remove from vehicle.
10.
Remove steering wheel horn pad, then using a steering wheel puller, remove steering wheel.
11.
Remove steering column upper and lower covers.
