Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
Voltmeter Connection -- No. 2 Purge Control Solenoid
AMOUNT CONTROL OPERATION
1.
Connect a voltmeter to the solenoid valve (No. 2 purge control) (L/Y).
2.
Start the engine and check the voltmeter reading when cold (coolant temp: below 70°C [158°F] Voltmeter reading: Approx. 12V).
3.
Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature, and increase the engine speed.
4.
Check the voltmeter reading.

Below 2.5V

Disconnect the voltmeter from the solenoid valve.
SYSTEM OPERATION
Neutral Switch Connector
1.
Disconnect the neutral switch connector (M/T) and connect a jumper wire to the connector.
2.
Start the engine, then disconnect the EC-AT (Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission) control unit.
NOTE: Disconnect the EC-AT control unit connector after starting the engine.
Voltmeter Connection -- No. 1 Purge Control Solenoid
3.
Connect a voltmeter to the solenoid valve (No. 1 purge control) (BR/R).
