Idle/Bypass Air Control Valve: Testing and Inspection

SYSTEM INSPECTION

1.   Start the engine and run it at idle.

Grounding Test Connector Pin

2.   Ground the test connector (Green:1-pin).

BAC Valve Disconnected

3. 

Disconnect the BAC valve connector.
NOTE:  With the BAC valve disconnected the idle speed will be slower than normal.

Checking Air Valve Operation

4.   Pinch the air hose and note the engine speed.

    

Cold engine:   Engine speed drops.

    

Warm engine:   Engine speed remains unchanged.

5.   Connect the BAC valve connector.
6.   Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature and run it at idle.
7.   Check that the idle speed is 650±20 rpm (M/T: Neutral; A/T: Park).
8.   Disconnect the BAC valve connector.
9.   Check the ISC valve operation to make sure the engine speed decreases.

10. 

Reconnect the BAC valve connector and disconnect the ground wire from the test connector.

BAC VALVE

1.   Disconnect the air hoses from the air funnel.
