Using a thin coin, open the key fob and check the manufacturer's date code sticker. The first three digits are the day of the year and the last digit is
the year.

If the first three digits are equal to or between 005 and 306 (5th day through 306th day) and the last digit is 7 (year), continue with this Service
Bulletin.

If the number is outside the specified range, continue normal diagnostics using the Workshop Manual.

Check if the battery in the key fob is discharged. If it is, replace the key fob and program the new RKE transmitter using the IDS RKE Transmitter
Programming Procedure. If all remotes for the vehicle are present, refer to MS3 online instructions or Workshop Manual section 09-14 REMOTE
KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING to program the remotes without using IDS.
NOTE:
Key fobs replaced under Warranty will be requested for analysis and verification of the date code.

Verify repair.
IDS RKE TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
1.
Install a known good battery in the suspect RKE transmitter (key fob) so the IDS scan tool can identify it.
2.
Connect IDS to vehicle.
3.
From the Main Toolbox tab, select "Body," then "Security," then "Remote Keyless Entry."
4.
Select "View Current Remote Transmitter TIC."
5.
Press the UNLOCK button on the RKE transmitter to view the Transmitter Identification Code (TIC) in IDS.
6.
Remove the battery from the suspect RKE transmitter and reassemble for warranty return.
7.
Select "Reprogram a New Keyfob."
8.
Select the suspect key fob TIC to replace from vehicle memory.
9.
Press the "Unlock" button on the new RKE transmitter.
10.
Follow the instructions on the scan tool screen to complete the programming procedure.
