2004 B-Series Trucks
DESCRIPTION
Some 2004 B-Series Trucks may exhibit a squeak or rattle from the passenger air bag module. This issue is addressed by installing Flock Tape on the
bottom of the metal mounting tabs on the passenger air bag module.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Depower the air bag system. Refer to Workshop manual section 08-10 DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING.
3.
Remove the passenger air bag module according to Workshop manual section 08-10 PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL /
INSTALLATION.
4.
Install Flock Tape (AKS164R4903) on both metal mounting tabs. Install the tape so at least 1/2 (13 mm) of the tape is on the bottom of the
bracket, and so it folds over the leading edge of the bracket and covers at least 1/4 (7 mm) of the top of the bracket.
NOTE:
Flock tape can be ordered through MStore.
5.
Install the passenger air bag module according to Workshop manual section 08-10 PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL /
INSTALLATION.
6.
Repower the system. Refer to Workshop manual section 08-10 DEPOWERING AND REPOWERING.
WARNING:
If the customer has the passenger airbag depowered already and/or there is a child seat on the right front seat, leave the passenger air bag
depowered and inform the customer you have left it depowered. See Owner's Manual on special instructions concerning children and air bags.
7.
Verify repair.
