Band Apply Servo: Service and Repair
Overdrive Servo (5R44E) or Front Servo (5R55E) Removal / Installation
OVERDRIVE SERVO (5R44E) OR FRONT SERVO (5R55E) REMOVAL / INSTALLATION

When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms can occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive
strategy. The customer needs to be notified that they may experience slightly different upshifts either soft or firm and this is a temporary condition
and will eventually return to normal operating condition.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Remove the control valve body.
4. Remove the shift cable.
1) Disconnect the shift cable from the manual control lever.
2) Remove the shift cable from the bracket.
5. Remove the digital transmission range (TR) sensor.
6. Remove the transmission modulator heat shield (5R44E/5R55E only).
Note:

If equipped, the transmission servo heat shield needs to be unclipped from the fluid pan rail and positioned out of the way for fluid pan
removal.
7. Loosen the nut and position the heat shield out of the way.
8. Remove the overdrive/front band locknut and unscrew the overdrive/front band adjusting screw.

Discard the overdrive/front band locknut after removal.
9. Remove the catalytic converter.
