Apply a new continuous 1/8 - 3/16" (3-5 mm) bead of sealant to the axle housing cover. Use Ultra Gray Silicone Sealant (TA-29) or equivalent.
NOTE:
The axle housing cover must be installed within 15 minutes of application of the silicone, or new sealant must be applied. If possible, allow
one hour before filling with lubricant to make sure the silicone sealant has properly cured.

Install the axle housing cover.

Install the 10 axle housing cover bolts. Torque to 33 lb.-ft. (45 N.m).
CAUTION:

Before filling the rear axle with lubricant, first fill the rear axle with 118 ml (4 oz.) of additive friction modifier.
9.
Fill the rear axle with approximately 2.4 liters (5.5 pints) of appropriate rear axle lubricant.

7.5 & 8.8 Rear Axles - SAE 80W-90 Rear Differential Oil.

8.8 High Torque Rear Axle - SAE 75W-140 Premium High Performance Rear Axle Lube.
NOTE:

Service refill capacities are determined by filling the rear axle to the level shown.

The 8.8 high torque axle can be identified by the base number (V3 13) appearing on the top left area of the axle tag. The tag is mounted to
the center section of the rear differential cover.
10.
Lower the vehicle.
11.
Verify repair.
