Piston: Testing and Inspection
1. Inspect the outer circumferences of all pistons for seizing and scoring. Replace as necessary.
2. Measure outer diameter of each piston at a right angle to the piston pin 14.58 mm (0.58 in) below the bottom of the oil ring.
NOTE: The pistons are color-coded red, blue, or yellow on the dome of the piston.

3. Measure the piston-to-cylinder clearance.
Clearance: 0.061-0.086 mm (0.0024 0.0034 in)
4. If the clearance exceeds the maximum, select a piston to obtain the specified clearance.
Cylinder bore diameter - Piston color code selection
96.2228-95.994 (3.7883-3.7793) - Red
96.037-96.076 (3.7810-3.7825) - Blue
96.076-96.114 (3.7825-3.7840) - Yellow
NOTE: If a piston is replaced, the piston ring must also be replaced.
