Piston Ring: Service and Repair
REMOVAL

Remove the piston rings by using a piston ring expander (commercially available).
CAUTION: Do not apply excessive tension, which may cause the ring to break.
INSTALLATION

Install the piston rings on the piston using a piston ring expander (commercially available).
NOTE:

Piston rings must be staggered on the piston to make sure the piston ring end gaps are not aligned.

If new piston rings are to be installed, and no visible cross hatch marks remain on the cylinder wall, or an unfinished cylinder wall, then the
wall must be refinished using a spring-type Cylinder Hone Set T73L-6011-A, or equivalent.

Never install piston rings with hands.
