5. Replace the shock absorber if there is a lag or skip occurring near the mid-stroke of the shaft's reverse travel direction.
6. Replace the shock absorber if there is any seizing during the shaft's full travel, except at either end of travel.
7. Replace the shock if during the shaft's fast, reverse stroke there is any noise other than a faint swish, such as a clicking sound.
INSTALLATION
Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to the following:
Shock Absorber (1)
Tighten the lower shock absorber nut.
Tightening torque: 53 - 72 Nm (39 - 53 ft. lbs.).
Tighten the upper shock absorber nut.
Tightening torque: 34 - 46 Nm (39 - 52 ft. lbs.).
