Shifter A/T: Service and Repair

REMOVAL 

1. Remove the upper and lower steering column covers.
2. Remove the selector lever:

a. Depress the two locking tabs on the selector lever pivot pin retaining clip.
b. Remove the selector lever pivot pin. Discard the pin and clip.

INSPECTION 

Inspect all of the parts and repair or replace as necessary.

INSTALLATION 

Install in the reverse order of removal, referring to the following step:

Install the selector lever in the shift socket with a new selector lever pivot pin.

NOTE:  The head of the selector lever pivot pin should be on the top side of the shift socket.
