OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE EXCESSIVE TRAVEL BEFORE OPENING DOOR

APPLICABLE MODELS
1996 - 97 B-Series built through 11/96

NOTE

Build months are located on the "Certification Label" attached to the driver's side door.

DESCRIPTION
The outside door handle may travel excessively before the door opens. This concern may be caused by the length of the outside door latch connecting
rod.

A new design rod (3 mm longer in length) is available to correct this concern. Customers complaining of this concern should have the vehicle inspected
and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.

CAUTION

Connecting rod is not adjustable, do not attempt to bend or adjust.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Verify the concern.

2.

Remove the interior door panel and water shield. Refer to section S of the workshop manual.

3.

Unsnap the connecting rod retainer located on the latch assembly.

4.

Remove and discard the existing door latch to outside door handle connecting rod.

5.

Install the new connecting rod.

Snap connecting rod into place.

6.

Install water shield and door panel.

7.

Confirm repair.
