Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Replacement

1. Remove in the order shown in the figure, noting the following:

a. Draw out small amount of brake fluid from the reservoir.
b. Use a C-clamp to compress the caliper piston into the bore.

NOTE:  Place the head of the C-clamp against the caliper, and the screw end of the C-clamp against the outer disc pad.

c. Remove the two caliper pin bolts.
d. Remove the caliper from the disc plate. If the caliper is to be removed for service, disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. If not support

the caliper.

2. Inspect all parts and repair or replace as necessary.
3. Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Upper mounting bolt torque 100-130 Nm (74-96 ft. lbs.).

Lower mounting bolt torque 24-36 Nm (18-26 ft. lbs.).

If removed, bleed brakes. See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair 

4. After installation, check for leakage and depress the pedal a few times, then verify that the brakes do not drag while rotating the wheels by hand.
