DESCRIPTION
The ABS MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) may light intermittently on some B-Series vehicles. This may occur during or just after driving in wet
conditions and may be caused by water entry into the Rear Main Harness (X-1007) connector. If water enters the X-1007 connector, voltage leakage into
ABS circuits can cause a fault code and ABS MIL illumination. The ABS MIL may also be accompanied with intermittent operation of other rear body
electrical circuits.
Water entry into the X-1007 connector can be caused by a misplaced center connector seal and can be worsened by the vacuum created inside the sealed
tail lamps. Customers complaining of ABS MIL illumination in wet conditions should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, have the tail lamps
modified and the front, rear and tail lamp harnesses replaced according to the procedure below.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the concern.
2.
Check for water entry and corrosion at the rear main harness connector (X-1007) and at the rear main to tail lamp harness connector (X403).

Replace the front and rear main harness if water and/or corrosion is found in the X-1007 connector.

Replace the tail lamp harness if water and/or corrosion is found in the X403 connector.

If water and/or corrosion is not found in the X-1007 or the X403 connector, refer to the Workshop manual for diagnostic troubleshooting.
NOTE:
Place Dielectric grease in the X-1007 and X403 connectors before assembly.
CAUTION:
Just cleaning and reconnecting the X-1007 and X403 connectors is not an adequate repair and will result in a customer come-back. If water and/or
corrosion is found, the harness must be replaced.
3.
Remove the left and right tail lamps.

Check tail lamps for any damage (i.e. loose lens, cracks, etc.) and replace if necessary.
