Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection
Inspection
1. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor connector.
2. Check for damaged or pushed out pin(s), corrosion, and loose wires.
3. Reconnect the sensor connector.
4. Connect the NGS to the data link connector. Turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Access IAT PID and record value.
NOTE: Voltage values were calculated for VREF = 5.0 volts. These values may vary 15 percent due to sensor and VREF variations.
6. If IAT PID is out of specification, place the sensor in water with a thermometer and heat the water gradually.
7. Measure the resistance of the sensor.
