NEW AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID FOR 5R55E AND 4R44E TRANSMISSIONS
APPLICABLE MODELS
1997 B-Series with automatic transmissions.
DESCRIPTION
Vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions (5R55E and 4R44E) will use MERCON V (or equivalent) fluid when service is necessary. MERCON V
is a fill for life fluid under normal use [for severe duty, change fluid every 50,000 miles (80,450 Km)].
CAUTION:
MERCON V is not interchangeable with other MERCON fluids. Using the wrong fluid may cause transmission driveability concerns and/or
premature component failure.
1997 B4000 - All automatic transmission vehicles built after 9/1/96 (1997 Model) will have electronically controlled 5R55E transmissions. Dealer
personnel should refer to the 1997 workshop manual for service and/or repair information.
