EGR Valve: Service and Repair
ELECTRIC EGR (EEGR) VALVE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. See BATTERY DISCONNECT.
2. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector.
3. Drain the cooling system. See ENGINE COOLANT REPLACEMENT.
Vehicles equipped with automatic transmission
4. Remove the transmission. See TRANSMISSION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
CAUTION: Use a block of wood between the oil pan and the jack stand to prevent oil pan damage.
5. Support the motor with an appropriate jack stand.
Vehicles equipped with manual transmission
6. Remove the bolts retaining the catalytic converter to the muffler. Discard the exhaust converter outlet gasket.
7. While supporting the exhaust inlet crossover pipe and the catalytic converter assembly, remove the exhaust hanger from the insulator. Position the
exhaust assembly aside.
8. Remove the rear drive shaft. See REAR PROPELLER SHAFT (4x2) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION or REAR PROPELLER SHAFT (4x4)
