Cylinder Head Gasket: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Relieve the fuel pressure; refer to Fuel Pressure Release.
3. Drain the cooling system; refer to Engine Coolant Replacement.
4. Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
5. Remove the drive belt; refer to Drive Belt Removal/Installation.
6. Remove the water pump pulley, fan and clutch assembly; refer to Water Pump Removal/Installation.
7. Remove the intake manifolds; refer to Upper Intake Manifold Removal/Installation and Lower Intake Manifold Removal/Installation.
8. Remove the ignition wires from the spark plugs; refer to Spark Plug Wire Removal/Installation.
9. Remove the spark plugs; refer to Spark Plug Removal/Installation.
10. Remove the oil level indicator tube; refer to Oil Level Indicator and Tube Removal/Installation.
11. Remove the EGR valve to exhaust manifold tube.
12. Remove the valve cover; refer to Valve Cover Removal/Installation.
13. Remove the drive belt; refer to Drive Belt Removal/Installation.
14. Recover the A/C refrigerant; refer to Refrigerant System.
15. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the A/C compressor.
16. Remove the A/C compressor; refer to Refrigerant System.
