Drive/Propeller Shaft: Service and Repair
Rear
REAR PROPELLER SHAFT (4X2) REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
1. With the vehicle in neutral, raise and support the vehicle.
2. Index-mark the propeller shaft to propeller shaft rear axle companion flange.
NOTE: Mark the slip yoke to index the transmission output shaft.
3. Remove the propeller shaft.
1) Remove the four bolts, and disconnect the propeller shaft.
2) Lower the propeller shaft, and slide the propeller shaft rearward out of the transmission.
3) Plug the extension housing to prevent fluid loss.
NOTE: Install new propeller shaft to propeller shaft rear axle companion flange bolts.
4. Install in reverse order of removal.
