Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair
CAUTION: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure when the engine is not running.
NOTE: Before disconnecting any fuel line, release the fuel pressure from the fuel system to reduce the possibility of injury or fire.
SST Fuel Gauge With Pressure Release Hose

Connect the special service tool (SST) to the fuel pressure relief valve (Schrader (r) valve) located on the fuel distribution pipe (fuel rail).

Place the drain hose in a suitable container.

Depress the pressure relief button until the pressure is released.
Alternate method

Disconnect the inertia fuel shutoff switch.

Crank the engine for 15 to 20 sec. to relieve pressure.
NOTE:
-
Use a rag for protection from fuel spray when disconnecting the hoses.

When inspecting the fuel system, use the proper special service tools.
