Fuel Pump Relay: Testing and Inspection

FUEL PUMP RELAY INSPECTION

Operational check
Install the Fuel Pump Relay and listen for clicking of the Fuel Pump Relay while cranking the engine.

Voltage inspection

1. Remove the Fuel Pump Relay.
2. Measure the voltage at the terminal (BK/Y) of the Fuel Pump Relay.

Specification:  Battery voltage 

3. If not as specified, check the Fuel Pump fuse (20A).
4. Turn the ignition switch On.

5. Measure the voltage at the terminal (R) of the Fuel Pump Relay.

Specification:  Battery voltage 

6. If not as specified, check the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) power relay.

Fuel Pump Relay

Continuity Inspection

1. Apply battery voltage between terminals 85 and 86.

-

There should be continuity between terminals 30 and 87.

-

There should be no continuity if no battery voltage is applied.

2. If not as specified, replace the Fuel Pump Relay.
