1994 B3000 with a manual transmission and calibration codes 4-55L-R00/R10, 4-55M-R00/R10, 4-55F-R10 or 4-55H-R10
DESCRIPTION
The following symptoms may occur during the first mile (1.6 km) of driving in cold ambient temperatures below 35 degrees F (2 degrees C)].
^
Noticeable stumble during acceleration after cold initial start.
^
Stall after initial cold start.
^
Long crank and hard start after stall.
^
No start after stall, requires fuel unloading as described in the owner's manual.
These concerns may be caused by the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) calibration. A PCM is available to reduce these concerns. Customers
complaining of these symptoms should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, have the PCM replaced
REPAIR PROCEDURES
1.
Confirm that the vehicle has a calibration code of 4-55L-R00/R10, 4-55M-R00/R10, 4-55F-R10 or 4-55H-R10.
^
If the vehicle has one of these codes, proceed to step 2.
^
If the vehicle does not have any of these codes, refer to the workshop manual for troubleshooting and repair information.
NOTE:
The calibration code is located on the certification label on the driver's side "B" pillar.
2.
Perform normal diagnostic procedures according to section F of the workshop manual.
^
If any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) are present, repair as necessary.
3.
Verify the concern with the engine cold and ambient temperature at 35 degrees F (2 degrees C) or below.
^
If the concern is present, install a new PCM. Refer to the Parts Information.
^
If the concern is not present, return the vehicle to the customer.
4.
List the date, dealer number and service bulletin number on the PCM Replacement Label and install the label on the radiator support.
NOTE:
This label informs technicians of the PCM change if future repairs are necessary.
