Clutch Switch: Description and Operation
PURPOSE
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses the Clutch Pedal Position Switch (input) to determine engine load and adjust engine operating
parameters according to PCM programming.
Clutch Pedal Position Switch (Test Connections)
OPERATION
The PCM sends out a 5 Volt reference signal through PCM terminal No.30 to the Clutch Pedal Position Switch.
-
With the clutch pedal DEPRESSED the 5 Volt reference signal flows through the Clutch Pedal Position Switch and returns to the PCM as an
input at PCM terminal No.46.
-
With the clutch pedal RELEASED current flow is interrupted and the PCM senses no voltage at terminal No.46.
