Pressure Feedback Exhaust Sensor: Description and Operation

View: (Typical) EGR Differential Pressure Feedback Sensor

PURPOSE

The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses the signal received from the the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Differential Pressure Feedback
(DPF) Sensor to compute optimum EGR flow rate, as well as to monitor EGR flow.

OPERATION

Exhaust pressure or vacuum is converted into a proportional analog voltage signal, which is digitized by the Powertrain Control Module.
The DPF Sensor also monitors pressure in the exhaust system to allow for an accurate assessment of EGR flow requirements.

CONSTRUCTION

The DPF Sensor is a ceramic capacitive-type pressure sensor.
