 View: 3-4 Shift Solenoid (A/T Only)

INSPECTION (ON-ROAD)

3-4 shift solenoid
1. Perform the Tester Hook-up Procedure.
2. Set the rotate gear select switch to first gear position.
3. Place the selector lever in the P position.
4. Start the vehicle.
5. Accelerate the vehicle to 64 km/h (40 mph).

NOTE:  The automatic transmission mechanically shifts from first to second and then to third gear. If the vehicle does not shift properly
between first through third gears do not proceed with this test. The transmission may have a mechanical / hydraulic failure that needs
correcting first.

6. Accelerate the vehicle to 72-88 km/h (45-55 mph). Set the rotate gear select switch to the fourth gear position.
7. It the vehicle does not shift, replace the 3-4 shift solenoid.
8. If the vehicle does shift, decelerate to 64 km/h (40 mph). Set the rotate gear select switch to the third gear position.
9. If the vehicle does not shift, replace the 3-4 shift solenoid.

10. If the vehicle does shift, the 3-4 shift solenoid is OK.
